Split large PDF documents into separate files with 4 modes

PDF documents are popular because they are a reliable way to present and exchange documents. Sometimes you don’t need everything in the documents. You can use the built-in “Split” function to pick and choose the information you share. Here are 4 options for you to set criteria for dividing PDFs:

Split by an Equal Number of Pages

The "Number of pages" option will divide your document into files containing up to a specified number of pages.

  1. Open a PDF and click “Page Edit”
  2. Choose “Split” and from the menu bar
  3. You will see 3 split methods, including splitting by number of pages, maximum files, and page ranges
  4. Enter the number of pages in the “Pages” text box (If you enter 1 in the field, and the PDF will be divided by every page)
  5. Then the separate files will be stored in the “Split & Merge” folder (See detailed tutorials)

Split by Picking a Range of Pages

Your PDF might have 100 pages, but you only need pages 10 to 50 and 85 to 90. In this scenario, you'd split the PDF into two separate PDFs containing the pages you chose to extract:

  1. Choose “Split” when you are in page editing mode.
  2. Specify the page range to extract them from the PDF. (Entering page 10-50 and 85-90 as an example)
  3. PDF Reader would create 5 PDFs containing page 1-9, 10-50, 51-84, 85-90, and 91-100.
  4. The output files will be saved to the “Split & Merge” folder. (See detailed tutorials)

Split Averagely to Multiple Files

If you are tired of separating pages in PDF files, you can try this mode, which randomly divides the PDF by specifying the maximum number of files.

  1. Choose “Page Edit”, and then the “Split” tool.
  2. Enter a number to equally divide the PDF into multiple files as you like.
  3. The output files will be saved to the “Split & Merge” folder. (See detailed tutorials)

Split by Divider Lines

With PDF Reader's PDF splitter tool, you can easily split PDF pages into multiple files by using divider lines.

  1. In page editing mode, choose “Split” from the menu bar.
  2. Divider lines between pages can be selected to designate specific ranges of pages.
  3. Once the divider lines are added, PDF Reader will split the PDF into smaller files. (See detailed tutorials)
