What is the Text Redaction 

Text redaction involves permanently blocking texts in a document to protect sensitive data. It’s a crucial measure for ensuring privacy and security.

KDAN PDF Reader provides two redaction options:

1. AI Redact: Leverage AI technology to detect and redact sensitive information automatically.

2. Manual Redact: Manually select and redact specific text as needed.

Getting Started with the AI Text Redaction

AI Redact is ideal for handling large PDF files. 

1. Open the PDF you wish to redact.
2. Click the "AI" button and select "Auto Redact" at the bottom left, or go to "Security" > "Redact" on the top toolbar.
3. Select the type of document you are working with and click "Next."
4. KDAN PDF Reader will scan for possible sensitive information. This might take a while.
5. On the left panel, you'll see the types of sensitive data detected by the app. Select the types of information you wish to redact.
6. The app will further detect information within the selected categories and display the results on the left panel. Tick the information you wish to redact.
7. Click "Detect".

Manual Text Redaction

You may search the term and block them manually.

1. On the top toolbar, click "Security" > "Redact" > "Search and Redact Text."
2. Enter the keywords you wish to redact in the search bar.
3. The app will display all search results. Tick the items you want to block.
4. Click "Mark" to block the text

Styling 

Customize colors and styles for both AI and manual text redaction.

The styling panel will appear on the right. Use the styling panel to choose colors and overlay text for the redaction bar.

Rules and Restrictions

AI Redact (Beta) is now available for all Document 365 subscribers in KDAN PDF Reader Mac. Please make sure you have updated to v1.17.0. The beta ends on v.1.18.0.

Usage restrictions:

• The file size should be less than 25MB.
• Text redaction is unavailable for encrypted or access-restricted files
• You can redact texts on the images and scans

How We Protect Your Privacy and Data

We use advanced encryption standards, AES-256, to encrypt your input information. Your input will be deleted after 24 hours.
